G-Dog documentary is a story of Homeboy Industries started by GregBoyle (nicknamed Father G) a Jesuit priest. His mission and goal hasbeen to liberate people who engage themselves in illegal gangs andgroups. He has set up a convalescence program with an aim ofchanging the lives of people from their past bad behaviors toadmirable people respected by the community.Father G founded homeboyIndustries in Los Angeles in 1992 where he provided free services, jobs training for any given individual seeking employment and thosewilling to change and disengage themselves from gang life. FatherGreg Boyle loves the people who come seeking his services and theylove him back.
The only thing that I would change about Homeboy Industry would be tolet the individuals face the wrath of the law for the activities thatthey earlier engaged in and later allow them to join the HomeboyIndustry. This will ensure a decline in the criticisms from Lawenforcement in Los Angeles who claim that the Industry is a homeharboring criminals. I would sustain the businesses that the Industryengages including the vast venture in catering and other incomeearning services.
There are a number of challenges that would be experienced as aresult of replicating this intervention in other cities. The firstchallenge would be problems with the gangs turning up for theservices. People would perhaps shy off and others too would take theoption of continuing with the illegal activities. The public wouldalso refuse to employ the members of the Industry and even refuse toseek their services regarding them as gang services. Law enforcementagencies in various nations would also restrict the existence of suchan Industry.
