HealthierEating Habits among Children

Beinghealthyis one of thedeterminants of a goodlifeforeachandeverypersonin life.Andas itisadvocatedin manyotheraspects, goodanddesirablehealthcan onlybe achievedifitstartsat theearlierstagesin life.AdvocacyPlan forHealthier Eating Habits forChildren is one of thevariables that needto be stressedby parentssothatchildrengetto havea desirablehealthystatusandwellbeing in general.Alotof changeshave beenobservedin thecurrentpastthat includebutnot limitedto theeatinghabits.Asa result, newhealthcomplicationsanddiseaseshas beenon therise, andtheyaredirectlyassociatedwith theneweatinghabits.Itis, therefore, theprimaryresponsibilityof parentsandguidanceof thechildrento ensurea healthyfuturefortheir youngonesthrough thebasichealthyeatinghabits.Under thisconcern, whatshould parentsconsiderin ensuringthattheir childrenare in therightdiettrend?

Lifestylehas changedwith timeandthemarketforfoodhas changedin termsof content andmatrix.Thenewlifestyle, as earliermentionedhas broughtwith itnewdiseasescalledthelifestyle diseases.Obesity, forinstances, wassomething unheardof among childrenin theunitedstatesin theearlieryears.Butwhatabout today, itis theorderof theday, andthishas a hugeimpacton thegeneraldevelopmentof childrenin thesociety.Childrenare contractingchronicdiseasesincludinghypertension alsocalledhighbloodpressureandalsodiabetes. Diabetesforreal! In thepast, diabetes wasa caseonlysharedwith eldermembersof thesociety.Thechangein eatinghabitsis an undoubtedevidenceof thecauseof thenewhealthcomplications(CHEI,TOYOKAWA &amp KANO, 2005).

Somethinghas to bedonein orderto curbtheeffectsof theadoptedeatinghabitsin thechildren.Asyouparentsare aware, childrenhavecravingforthejunkfoodthat apparentlyhas a veryhighcountof calories. Intakeof thatlargenumberof calories is not beneficialand,in fact, itis detrimentalto thehealthof thechildren.Whatever our mouthtakesin determinethehealthof our body.Parentsshould monitorwhatthechildreneat,be itin school,at home,in churchorandevenwhentheygoout to havefun.Theretailmarketforfoodis regulated, andallfoodcafes andotherstoresthat cookthesefoodsare requiredto disclosethecontents of theingredientsthat preparethatparticularmeal.Asa goodparent, itwould be negligentifyouallowedthechildto consumea mealthat, forexample, has a higherthan recommendedamountof calories. Thesecalories buildingthebodyandtheresultis whatis currently beingrampantobesity among thechildren.

Theotherproblemcitedis thatall thefoodfoundin themajorstoresandfoodchainsacross theUnited States has a highcountof calories. Thatcannot be a satisfyingexcusebecausewhatgoin thebodycan as wellbe gottenridof. One of themethodsthat can beutilizedin ensuringthattheamountof fatdoesnot accumulatein thebodyis engagingthebodyin physicalexercise.Parentsare, to thiseffect, encouragedto allowchildrensometimeto engagein playandletthem walkon their ownata timesothattheir bodycan utilizetheextraamountof calories. Thestrategyaimedat providingthatthechildrencan eatwhattheywantwithout anyadverseeffecton thebody.Thefirstlady, her Excellency Michelle Obama has a programthat aimat eradicatingobesity among thechildren. So,parents, youshould be awarethatthisis national epidemic that need collectiveresponsibility(Skiba,2010).

Theotherstrategyin theplanwould be forparentsto providea balanceddietforthechildrenthat are especiallyrichin vegetablesandfruits.Foodsfrom plantsare not historically recordedto be a causative of thechronicdiseases. However, itis theroleof parentsto ensurethattherightquantityof theanimalmealis introducedin thechildrendietbecauseitis equallyimportant.Takingmeat, forinstance, parentsshould encouragea dietthat compriseswhite meatinsteadof thelesshealthyred meat.Theproportionof animalproductsconsumedshould be regulatedbecauseitseemtheyare thelargestcontributorsto themenaceof obesity andotherchronicdiseasesamong thechildren(Edelstein,2011).

Todisseminatethisinformation, nosinglechannelis entirelycapableto achievetheobjective.Nevertheless,in thisinformationage, theinternet is thecosteffective, firstandmostwidelymethodto be usedas opposedto brochuresandotherprintmedia.I will usetheinternet to reachtheparents.Itis importantthatthemethodthat would be usedis goingto reachas manyparentsas possible.Thehealthof our youngoneswill determinethefuturehealthof theworkingclassandhencethefutureof thecounty.
